Barnwell Village Hall New Year 2010/11
Once again, everyone had a great time and joined in with everything on offer. All our themes this year were Christmas.
Once again the competition was on. Who would win this year ? Crabs, Winkles or Shrimps..... again points were awarded for absolutely anything.
The first night was Austrian Christmas with The BierkellerMen and all the tables were placed in long rows.
This was so that when the Oompah Band started,everyone could link arms and sway and sway they did !
It was a great night and very loud and lively and there was some exceptional audience participation.
The next night was Caribbean christmas and there were some fantastic decorated tables.
Whilst people were having their meals they were treated to Jason the caribbean bing bong playing the steel drums ,
and afterwards they danced the night away to Paul James who did a fantastic job and even got people involved so they could earn points for their team !
One of the things that stood out was Lin Roberts dancing with a parrot - did it dance better than Barry ? (this even earned the shrimps a point! ).
Another thing that stood out was people trying to bribe the marshalls all to gain extra points !! I must say that some of the cocktails were very nice..
New Years Eve and it was Victorian Christmas .
Once again everyone decorated their tables and the costumes were fantastic.
Someone even made a fireplace with victorian photographs on to stand by their table..
It was a great night and enjoyed by everyone.
The last night was again chill out night with american supper and people were still trying to win points for their team.
We even had an engagement...a first for us at a new years rally.. Congratulations to the happy couple.
This Year the winning team were the Shrimps. - by 1 point was it the engagement or the parrot ?
Who will win next year ?
