Valentines Rally at Wrenn School

12th - 14th February

I had warned everyone it would rain on the Friday, but this time I went one better, it snowed on the Thursday!  I had to get my daughter Beth to look out of the window on the Friday morning, the thought of having to cancel the Valentines rally two years in succession because of snow would have tipped me over the edge!

Just as I had asked Ann & Stewart arrived at 17.00hrs with their detached house on wheels!  Once the 36 footer was parked Mark & Malc had a cunning plan where to site the other vans!

Once the legs were down on the other 17 vans we all met up in the classroom, Daph’s café opened for tea, toast & toppings with a Mr & Mrs quiz.  My adjudicators Janet Randall & Mark had an exceptionally tough time keeping an eye on the ‘Girls & Boys’ they even escorted their respective charges to & from the toilet!  There were so many nominees for best cheater!!  It took me until 05.45am to mark the answers!  Reading the answers was just like reading a good book, I couldn’t put them down!  if anyone had seen me chuckling away to myself at that time of night/morning they’d cart me away for sure!

All the tables looked beautiful Saturday evening & the masses were all wearing something red.

It was very hard to decide which table was the best dressed, we passed the decision over to Dawn Tailby

who thought the one by Angela Rose & crew just pipped it!

Daph’s cider & vodka punch got us all in the

partying mood & we toasted Daph & Dawn as they were both celebrating their 65th birthdays on the 16th Feb.

I must thank all for the mountains of savoury & sweet food had been provided

by the ralliers for the American Supper, the spread looked the biz!

There was so much that all had doggy bags for  Sunday!

Chairman Pat provided us with a great Valentines disco until very late

(the beauty of having a social in a school hall in a non residential area)

Flag was held back in the classroom on the Sunday.  Name the dog was won by Ann Robinson, thank goodness Pat didn’t win..he was going to give the gorgeous cuddly dog to his dog Rosie!!  Announcing the results of Mr & Mrs quiz was hilarious.  Janet Lee’s holiday of a life time was to go to France; George would have taken her to Cornwall!  Sylvia Beddoe was married 3 hours before Geoff!  & most men made themselves 6 inches taller!!  Pat & Midge had the most answers the same & won (I’m sure they cheated!!)

My thanks go once again to Daph & Malc Pack for all their help & hard work, & also to all the ralliers present who made running the rally such a pleasurable experience.

I look forward to having a rest from running rallies for a while & hope to see you out in the future.
